The "unofficial" end of the 2019 summer season was celebrated in a big way on Labor Day Weekend here in Schroon Lake, with a variety of events and activities for all ages.
Local restaurants and Paradox Brewery offered live music all weekend long. The Annual Schroon Lake Senior Citizens' Garage Sale in the Park, held on Saturday, as always attracted a great variety of vendors and a large audience of shoppers and browsers. Saturday evening, the Chamber sponsored a Boat Parade, re-inventing an activity that was held many years ago in Schroon Lake, traditionally on Memorial Day weekend. The Parade was a huge success, with first and second place winners crowned in each of two categories, best decorations and lights.
On Sunday, the Chamber held the first annual Kids' Karnival in the Town Park, with bounce houses, face painting, and old fashioned games of chance. The carnival was such a hit that we had to shut down a bit early having run out of prizes! Look for both the Boat Parade and Carnival to return next Labor Day.
Finally, the weekend was capped off with the Street Dance and fireworks. This year, the Street Dance returned to Main Street and its "block party" roots. The crowds were huge, the music and dancing was great, and it looks like we're back to stay on Main Street for years to come!
