THE SCHROON LAKE WEEKLY GUIDE was created in 1942 by Milton Rayburn, who summered on Schroon Lake from his home in Brooklyn with other members of the Fried/Kaufman family. He planned it, designed it, secured advertisers, figured the finances, etc. The first guides were printed locally; today the guide is printed by a Glens Falls printer who can print large sized posters. Over the decades, the original guide evolved from a weekly poster into being published as we see it now, printed and posted three times each summer. Today, the distribution area is larger and there are more advertisers.
