Getting there

This location is on Park Street, across the road from the North Hudson Town Office. From Exit 29 off the Northway (I-87), follow Route 9 north for less than a mile. Beach parking is on the left.

Don't forget to pack your swim suits - no vacation is complete without a trip to the beach. This beach is located along a slow-moving portion of the Schroon River.

From Newcomb follow Route 28N west toward Long Lake. Continue for around 9.5 miles to the access site on the right. Look for a DEC sign. Follow this short gravel road down to the parking lot.

Fishing Brook

The well-named Fishing Brook is in a lovely area which is mostly wild. The brook trout fishing is so good you might want to keep it a secret.

How to get there

Start at the three corners in Long Lake drive toward Newcomb on Route 28N. Continue to where Fishing Brook goes under the road and immediately look for a dirt drive on the right, after you cross. There is a bridge and dam here creating a small pond upstream.

Essex Chain Lakes

The 19,600-acre Essex Chain Lakes Complex opened to the public in the summer of 2014 as a prime destination for Adirondack paddling, camping, hiking, hunting, and fishing. The region contains the eight lakes in the Essex Chain as well as numerous other lakes and ponds. The Hudson River forms the eastern boundary of the complex, and small hills and mountains dot the entire area.

The Essex Chain Lakes Complex spans three towns and two counties – Minerva, Newcomb, and Long Lake in Essex and Hamilton counties.
