Schroon Lake Guide

THE SCHROON LAKE WEEKLY GUIDE was created in 1942 by Milton Rayburn, who summered on Schroon Lake from his home in Brooklyn with other members of the Fried/Kaufman family. He planned it, designed it, secured advertisers, figured the finances, etc. The first guides were printed locally; today the guide is printed by a Glens Falls printer who can print large sized posters. Over the decades, the original guide evolved from a weekly poster into being published as we see it now, printed and posted three times each summer. Today, the distribution area is larger and there are more advertisers.

Terra Alta Cottages

Located at the northern end of Schroon Lake Village, just a 10-minute walk from the center of town, Terra Alta Cottages have been a summer destination for more than 75 years. The 34 historic cabins, which date from the 1930s, have been owned and operated by the same family for four generations. The cabins are simply furnished, and come in a variety of sizes for all families. The grounds feature tennis courts, sandy beach with lifeguard, day camp for children, boat docks, and an unmatched community spirit.
